CD Castellón – Club History
CD Castellón was founded in 1922 in Castellón de la Plana, the capital of the Castellón province on Spain's eastern Mediterranean coast. Playing in black and white stripes, Castellón have had multiple La Liga periods in their history, with their most sustained top-flight era in the 1970s and 1980s. The club won the Copa del Rey in 1969, their only major trophy, and are historically the most important football club in the Castellón province. Their return to the second division in 2020 after many years in lower divisions was celebrated across the city.
