MAC³PARK Stadion
The MAC3PARK Stadion is the home of PEC Zwolle, located at Stadionplein 1 in Zwolle, in the Overijssel province of the eastern Netherlands. The stadium holds 14,000 spectators and was inaugurated in 1999, replacing the older Oosterenk ground that had served the club for many years. The stadium was built to give PEC Zwolle a modern, purpose-designed venue as the club sought to establish itself in the professional game after years of lower-division football. Named after the MAC3PARK business park investment company, the ground features four covered stands and a compact, friendly layout that suits the club's community character.
PEC Zwolle achieved their greatest footballing moment in 2014 when they won the KNVB Cup, defeating Ajax 5-1 in the final at De Kuip in Rotterdam - one of the greatest upsets in the competition's history. The club, competing far below Ajax's resource level, produced a performance of extraordinary quality that sent shockwaves through Dutch football and brought national celebrations to Zwolle's streets. The MAC3PARK Stadion was the starting point for many of those matches that led to the final. The club also finished as Eredivisie runners-up in 2013-14, their best-ever league finish, and qualified for European competition as a result.
PEC Zwolle's history reflects the character of Zwolle itself - a Hanseatic League trading city with a long history, strong local identity, and a community-spirited culture. The club has spent periods both in the Eredivisie and the Eerste Divisie, with their modern era defined by the remarkable 2013-14 campaign. The MAC3PARK Stadion is a comfortable and well-maintained venue that generates good atmospheres for top-flight football. The broader Overijssel region, which also includes FC Twente and Go Ahead Eagles, is one of the Netherlands' most football-enthusiastic areas, and PEC Zwolle occupies an important position within this regional football culture.
