ADO Den Haag – Club History
ADO Den Haag (Alles Door Oefening Den Haag, or "Everything Through Practice") was founded in 1905 in The Hague (Den Haag), the seat of the Dutch government and parliament. One of the Netherlands' oldest football clubs, ADO Den Haag have had multiple periods in the Eredivisie and Eerste Divisie, representing the political and diplomatic capital of the Netherlands. Playing in yellow and green, the club have a proud history that includes their heyday in the 1940s and 1960s, and have maintained a passionate following in The Hague across over a century of Dutch football.
ADO Den Haag won the Dutch league championship twice – in 1942 and 1943 – during World War II, and their cup victories have punctuated multiple eras of the club's history. The club has had extended periods in the Eredivisie and the second division, with various promotions and relegations reflecting the typical cycle of Dutch provincial clubs. Their Binckhorst Arena (Car Jansen Stadion) provides a modern home for Dutch football in The Hague.
