Cultural y Deportiva Leonesa – Club History
Cultural y Deportiva Leonesa, universally known as Cultural Leonesa, was founded in 1923 in León, the historic capital of the former Kingdom of León in northwestern Spain. The club has competed across multiple Spanish football divisions and had notable Copa del Rey moments. Playing in blue and white, Cultural Leonesa represent a city steeped in history – León's cathedral is one of Europe's finest examples of Gothic architecture – and draw passionate support from across the Castile and León region. The club reached the Copa del Rey semi-finals in 2018, defeating La Liga clubs including Las Palmas and Eibar in memorable giant-killing performances.
