Team History

Arka Gdynia – Club History

Arka Gdynia was founded in 1929 in Gdynia, a major port city on Poland's Baltic coast, adjacent to the historic city of Gdańsk. The club represents the maritime traditions of the Pomeranian coast and has competed in the Polish Ekstraklasa across multiple periods of its history. Playing in yellow and blue, Arka Gdynia have won the Polish Cup on three occasions – in 2017, 2018, and achieving back-to-back cup victories – qualifying for European football and demonstrating their cup pedigree. The club's passionate supporter base reflects the proud Baltic port city identity of Gdynia.

Arka Gdynia's cup victories in 2017 and 2018 were the defining achievements of the club's modern history. Under coach Leszek Ojrzyński, the back-to-back Polish Cup wins provided European qualification and generated enormous celebration across Gdynia. Their Europa League appearances brought European opponents to the Baltic coast and demonstrated that Polish provincial football could produce silverware-winning clubs outside the Warsaw-Kraków axis. The club has subsequently experienced relegation from the Ekstraklasa and rebuilding challenges.
