Fredrikstad FK – Club History
Fredrikstad FK was founded in 1903 in Fredrikstad, a city at the mouth of the Glomma river on the Oslofjord in southeastern Norway. The original Fredrikstad FK won the Norwegian championship nine times between 1938 and 1984, making them historically one of Norway's most decorated clubs. The modern club, reformed as a new legal entity in 2006 following the original club's dissolution, has worked to rebuild professional football in Fredrikstad. Playing in red and white, the club draws on the proud tradition of its predecessor to inspire new generations of Fredrikstad football supporters.
Fredrikstad's original club was a Norwegian football powerhouse across several decades. The club won the Norwegian championship multiple times and the Norwegian Cup on several occasions, producing players who represented the national team. The original Fredrikstad FK's dissolution was a sad moment for Norwegian football, but the reformation of the club has seen gradual progress back through the Norwegian football pyramid, with promotion to the Eliteserien in 2024 marking a historic return to top-flight Norwegian football.
