Team History

Cove Rangers FC – Club History

Cove Rangers Football Club was founded in 1922 in Cove Bay, a coastal village now incorporated into Aberdeen, Scotland. The club spent decades competing in regional football before their admission to the Scottish Professional Football League in 2019, following their victory in the Lowland League and a promotion playoff. Playing in navy blue and white, Cove Rangers represent one of Scottish football's most rapid rise stories – from regional football to professional competition in a remarkably short time. The club is based in the suburbs of Aberdeen and draws support from the wider northeast Scotland community.

Cove Rangers' admission to the SPFL in 2019 was a watershed moment, and the club immediately demonstrated they belonged at the professional level. Under manager Paul Hartley, Cove were quickly competitive and won promotion through the divisions at a pace that surprised many observers. Their League One title in 2020–21 and subsequent Championship football demonstrated the club's ability to develop rapidly and compete at progressively higher levels of Scottish football. The club's well-run structure and professional approach have made them a model for other clubs from outside the traditional Scottish football establishment.

Balmoral Stadium

Cove Rangers play at the Balmoral Stadium (also known as Allan Park) in Cove Bay, Aberdeen. The ground has been developed to meet SPFL requirements and holds approximately 3,000 supporters. Located on the southern outskirts of Aberdeen, the stadium serves as the community hub for Cove Bay's football. As the club has risen through the divisions, the facilities have been progressively improved, and the Balmoral Stadium now provides a modern, professional environment for Championship football in the northeast of Scotland.
