The Estadio Mestalla is one of the oldest and most atmospheric football grounds in Spain, and the proud home of Valencia CF since its inauguration on 20 May 1923. Located in the heart of Valencia city, the stadium has been continuously updated over the decades and currently holds approximately 49,430 spectators, making it one of the louder grounds in La Liga given its compact, steep-banked design. The name "Mestalla" refers to the irrigation channel that once ran alongside the original site.

Mestalla has hosted some of the most important matches in Spanish football history. It served as a venue during both the 1982 FIFA World Cup and the 1964 European Championship, held in Spain. For Valencia CF, the stadium witnessed the club's golden eras — including back-to-back La Liga titles in 2002 and 2004, and UEFA Cup and Cup Winners' Cup triumphs in 1980 and 2004 respectively. The ground's record attendance stands at 65,000, achieved during a First Division match in the 1950s, when standing terraces were still in use.

The Mestalla is renowned for its thunderous atmosphere, particularly under floodlights, and has long been considered one of the most intimidating venues in Europe. Plans have existed for decades to build a new Nou Mestalla stadium nearby, but the project has faced repeated delays. In the meantime, the old Mestalla continues to serve as the cherished home of Los Ches, a compact cauldron of noise and history that remains inseparable from the identity of Valencia CF.
