Right to Dream Park
The Right to Dream Park is the distinctive home of FC Nordsjaelland, located in Farum in the Furesø Municipality, north of Copenhagen in the Capital Region of Denmark. The stadium holds 9,200 spectators and was renamed in 2020 to reflect the ownership of the Right to Dream Group, a pan-African football development organisation founded by Tom Vernon that develops young African talents through football academies. This naming represents one of the most unusual stadium branding decisions in European football, explicitly linking a Danish Superliga club to an African developmental mission and creating a unique identity within Scandinavian football.
FC Nordsjaelland were founded in 2003 through the merger of Farum BK and Nordsjælland GF, and achieved the extraordinary feat of winning the Danish Superliga title in 2011-12 in only their ninth season. That triumph, achieved with a squad heavily featuring graduates of the club's own youth academy and playing attractive, fast-paced attacking football, earned international admiration and established the club as a model for youth development. The Right to Dream Group's ownership, acquired in 2015, has given the club a unique mandate to develop young talent - particularly from Ghana and across Africa - with the Danish Superliga club serving as a professional pathway for African youngsters developed in the Right to Dream Academy in Ghana.
The Right to Dream Park's modest capacity reflects the club's provincial Copenhagen location and community scale, but the stadium has witnessed some impressive European qualifying performances and several generations of talented players progressing through the FCN system to major European clubs. The club's model has attracted widespread attention from football development specialists globally, and the annual flow of African talents through Farum has given the Right to Dream Park an unusual international dimension. The surrounding North Zealand landscape of forests and lakes provides a pleasant, verdant setting for this distinctively mission-driven Danish football club.
