Swansea.com Stadium
Swansea City AFC plays at the Swansea.com Stadium (also known as the Liberty Stadium), located in the Morfa area of Swansea, Wales's second-largest city. The stadium opened in July 2005 with a capacity of 21,088 spectators, replacing the Vetch Field which had served the club since 1912. The Swansea.com Stadium was purpose-built to modern standards and is co-owned by the city of Swansea and the club, shared with Ospreys rugby union. The current naming rights are held by Swansea.com, a web hosting company, giving the ground its contemporary commercial identity while retaining its role as a significant cultural institution in Welsh sport.
The Swansea.com Stadium witnessed the club's most extraordinary period — their remarkable rise from the lower reaches of the Football League to Premier League football between 2001 and 2011. Under managers including Roberto Martínez, Paulo Sousa, and Brendan Rodgers, Swansea climbed from near-extinction (facing possible liquidation in 2001) to the Premier League, playing attractive passing football that earned widespread admiration. The stadium hosted six consecutive Premier League seasons (2011–2018), including a League Cup triumph in 2013 — the first major trophy won by a Welsh club — when they defeated Bradford City 5–0 at Wembley.
The Swansea.com Stadium's design provides a good football environment with covered seating throughout and a compact feel that creates strong crowd noise for important matches. The ground's location near Swansea Bay and the Mumbles coastline gives the city's football environment a distinctive maritime character. Swansea City's supporter culture is passionate and community-oriented, with the Welsh football identity adding another dimension to the club's character. The Jack Army — Swansea's famous supporter name — continues to fill the stadium with vocal support as the club works towards returning to the Premier League from the Championship.
