Generali Arena
FK Austria Wien, one of the two most historically significant clubs in Austrian football, plays at Generali Arena, located in the Favoriten district of Vienna. Originally known as Franz Horr Stadion (named after a former club president) and later as Viola Park after a significant development project, the stadium has a capacity of approximately 16,899 spectators and has served as Austria Wien's home for many decades. The Generali Arena sits in working-class southern Vienna and has been the stage for countless memorable moments in the club's distinguished history as one of Austria's most decorated clubs.
FK Austria Wien has a particularly rich history in European football, having won the UEFA Cup Winners' Cup in 1978 and 1978, and reaching the quarter-finals of the European Cup on several occasions. The club's European campaigns have brought legendary clubs to Vienna, and the Franz Horr/Generali Arena was the venue for some of these historic encounters. Domestically, Austria Wien have won the Austrian championship over 20 times and the Austrian Cup on more than 25 occasions, confirming their status as the country's most decorated club. The "Veilchen" (Violets) — named for their distinctive purple strip — have produced many players who went on to distinguish themselves at European level.
The Generali Arena underwent significant redevelopment as part of the "Viola Park" project, which transformed the area around the stadium into a comprehensive football campus including training facilities and youth development infrastructure. This investment reflects the club's determination to modernise while maintaining their roots in southern Vienna. The atmosphere at the Generali Arena on derby matchdays against Rapid Wien — one of Austrian football's most passionate rivalries — is among the most intense in central European football. Austria Wien's role as one of the pillars of Austrian football is expressed through the history and culture embedded in the Generali Arena.
