RCDE Stadium

Cornella de Llobregat, Avenida Baix Llobregat 100 40,000 capacity

The RCDE Stadium, also known as the Estadi Cornellà-El Prat, is the home ground of RCD Espanyol, located on the border between Cornellà de Llobregat and El Prat de Llobregat in the metropolitan area of Barcelona. The stadium was inaugurated on 16 August 2009, replacing the club's former Estadi Olímpic Lluís Companys, which Espanyol had shared and used as a tenant. With a capacity of approximately 40,500 spectators, the RCDE Stadium is a modern, purpose-built arena designed specifically for Espanyol, finally giving the club a ground it could call its own after many years of playing in shared or temporary facilities.

The stadium was built at a cost of around €120 million and features four covered stands with good sightlines throughout. Since its opening, the RCDE Stadium has hosted a series of memorable European nights for Espanyol, including UEFA Europa League matches. The ground witnessed the club's extraordinary run to the Europa League final in the 2006–07 season — though that campaign predates the current stadium, the new venue has since hosted important continental fixtures. One of the most iconic moments at the RCDE Stadium came during the 2015–16 Europa League campaign when Espanyol reached the round of 16. The ground also hosted international fixtures, including Spain Under-21 matches and friendly internationals.

Attending a match at the RCDE Stadium offers a distinctly modern experience, with excellent facilities and unobstructed views from all areas of the ground. Average attendance figures typically range from 18,000 to 28,000 for La Liga matches, reflecting a loyal and passionate fanbase. The stadium's location, some distance from central Barcelona, has occasionally been cited as a challenge for attracting neutral supporters, but for Espanyol fans it represents an important symbol of the club's independence and identity. As Espanyol continue to develop as a football club, the RCDE Stadium remains a cornerstone of their ambitions for the future.
