TSV Hartberg – Club History
TSV Hartberg was founded in 1932 in Hartberg, a small town in the Styria region of Austria with a population of around 6,000 people. The club's rise from Austrian regional football to the Austrian Bundesliga is one of Austrian football's most surprising recent stories. Playing in white and black, Hartberg achieved promotion to the Austrian Bundesliga in 2018 and have since maintained their top-flight status, defying expectations and becoming regulars in Austria's highest division despite representing one of the country's smallest communities with a professional football club at that level.
Hartberg's sustained Bundesliga presence since 2018 has been achieved through excellent organisation, disciplined recruitment, and a clear team identity under various coaches. The club's consistent avoidance of relegation from the Austrian Bundesliga is remarkable given the financial resources of the larger Austrian clubs, and they have qualified for European competition through their domestic performances. Their compact Profertil Arena provides an intimate home that generates strong atmosphere.
