Anoeta Stadium
The Reale Arena, known officially as Estadio Reale Arena and previously as Estadio Anoeta, is the home of Real Sociedad, located in the Anoeta sports complex in San Sebastián (Donostia), the capital of the Basque province of Gipuzkoa. Opened on 7 October 1993, the stadium was built to replace the club's aging Estadio Atocha, which had served Real Sociedad since 1913. The arena currently holds approximately 39,500 spectators following renovations, making it one of the more intimate top-flight grounds in Spain.
The Reale Arena has been witness to Real Sociedad's resurgence as a major force in Spanish football. Under various managers including Imanol Alguacil, the stadium has rung with celebrations of La Liga title challenges, Copa del Rey runs, and regular appearances in European competition. Real Sociedad's first division titles — won in 1981 and 1982 — were achieved at the old Atocha, but the Reale Arena has been the stage for the club's modern renaissance, including a return to the UEFA Champions League group stage in the 2021–22 and 2022–23 seasons.
Set in the stunning green hills of the Basque Country, and serving a city renowned for its food culture and quality of life, the Reale Arena is a charming, mid-sized arena that perfectly matches the identity of a club rooted deeply in its community. The naming rights were acquired by insurance company Reale Seguros in 2019. For Real Sociedad fans, it represents the heart of a footballing culture that blends Basque identity with a passion for elegant, attacking football.
