Tottenham Hotspur Stadium
The Tottenham Hotspur Stadium is the magnificent, state-of-the-art home of Tottenham Hotspur Football Club, situated on Bill Nicholson Way at 748 High Road in Tottenham, north London. The stadium holds 62,850 spectators, making it the largest club ground in London and one of the largest in England. It opened in April 2019, replacing the beloved White Hart Lane which had been Spurs' home since 1899. The new stadium was built on the same site as White Hart Lane, with construction taking several years and the project eventually costing over one billion pounds - making it one of the most expensive football grounds ever built.
The Tottenham Hotspur Stadium is widely considered one of the most technologically advanced sports venues in the world. It features a unique split retractable grass pitch, below which lies a separate NFL-grade synthetic surface, enabling the stadium to host American Football games as well as football. The South Stand is the largest single-tier stand in the United Kingdom with a capacity of 17,500. Additional features include a micro-brewery, a sky walk on the exterior, a hotel integrated into the stadium fabric, and premium hospitality spanning multiple levels. It hosted matches at Euro 2020 and is a regular NFL London venue under a long-term partnership with the NFL.
White Hart Lane, the predecessor ground, was itself steeped in history - it witnessed Spurs' legendary 1960-61 Double-winning team, which was the first team of the 20th century to win both the League Championship and FA Cup in the same season. The new stadium honours this legacy while catapulting the club into a new commercial and sporting era. The record attendance stands at 62,850, set during several Premier League and European fixtures. The surrounding area of Tottenham has been substantially regenerated as part of the stadium development, creating new employment and facilities for the local community.
