US Avellino – Club History
Unione Sportiva Avellino was founded in 1912 in Avellino, the capital of the Irpinia province in the Campania region of southern Italy, in the Apennine mountains east of Naples. The club plays in green and white and has had periods in Serie A and Serie B across its history. Avellino's most celebrated era was the 1970s and early 1980s when they maintained Serie A status for multiple seasons, representing one of southern Italy's provincial clubs at the top of Italian football. Financial difficulties have characterised more recent years.
