Team History

CD Mirandés – Club History

CD Mirandés was founded in 1927 in Miranda de Ebro, a small city in the Castile and León region of Spain, near the border with the Basque Country. Playing in red, Mirandés are one of Spanish football's great romantic stories – a small-city club that has repeatedly achieved results far above expectations in the Copa del Rey and has reached the top two professional divisions. With a population of around 36,000, Miranda de Ebro consistently produces football that rivals and often defeats clubs from much larger cities.

Mirandés' Copa del Rey campaigns have been the stuff of legend. The club has eliminated La Liga clubs in multiple giant-killing runs, most notably reaching the Copa del Rey semi-finals in 2020, where they defeated Villarreal before being eliminated by Granada. This achievement for a club in the Segunda División B (third tier) was extraordinary. Playing in the Professional Football League (Primera RFEF) in recent years, Mirandés have maintained their ambition and passion for cup competition.
