FC København, known internationally as FCK or Copenhagen, was founded on 1 August 1992 through the merger of two historic Danish clubs — Kjøbenhavns Boldklub (KB) and Boldklub 1893. Although the merged entity was technically new in 1992, the DNA of the club traces back to KB, which was founded in 1876 and is the oldest football club in Denmark.
