Polissya Zhytomyr Stadium
Tsentralnyi Stadion
Polissya Zhytomyr plays at Spartak Stadium in Zhytomyr, a city in northern Ukraine approximately 130 kilometres west of Kyiv, near the border with Belarus. The stadium has a capacity of approximately 10,000 spectators and has served as the primary football venue for the Zhytomyr region. Polissya — named after the Polesia region of forests and marshes that spans northern Ukraine and southern Belarus — represents football in one of Ukraine's more northern oblasts, bringing top-level domestic football to a city and region that has historically been in the shadow of the capital.
Polissya Zhytomyr's rise through the Ukrainian football pyramid to Premier League participation has been a significant achievement for the club and the Zhytomyr football community. The city has faced particular challenges given its proximity to the Belarusian border and its position in the path of significant military activity during Russia's invasion of Ukraine from February 2022. Despite these extraordinary circumstances, Polissya have continued to participate in Ukrainian football, demonstrating the resilience of the Ukrainian football community in maintaining sporting competition during a period of national crisis.
The Zhytomyr stadium, while modest in European terms, holds great importance for the local football community as a gathering point and symbol of continuity. The club's participation in the Ukrainian Premier League has brought national visibility to a region that might otherwise receive little attention in the context of Ukraine's major sporting institutions. Polissya's presence in top-flight Ukrainian football ensures that the Polesia region — with its distinctive natural and cultural heritage — has a representative at the highest domestic level. The club and stadium continue to function as important community institutions during one of Ukraine's most challenging historical periods.
