Gamla Ullevi

Gothenburg, Ullevigatan 5 18,416 capacity

GAIS (Göteborgs Atlet- och Idrottssällskap) plays at Gamla Ullevi, a historic stadium located in central Gothenburg, Sweden's second-largest city. The current Gamla Ullevi — the name means "Old Ullevi" in Swedish — was rebuilt and reopened in 2009 with a capacity of 18,800 spectators, replacing the previous structure on the same site. The stadium is used by GAIS and also serves as a venue for IFK Göteborg when the larger Ullevi stadium is unavailable. Gamla Ullevi's central location in Gothenburg, its green surroundings, and its elegant modern design make it one of the most attractive football grounds in Sweden.

GAIS is one of Sweden's oldest football clubs, founded in 1894, and has historically been one of Gothenburg's significant clubs alongside IFK Göteborg, Häcken, and Örgryte. The club has won the Swedish championship six times, primarily in the early decades of Swedish professional football, and has a rich history in the city's football culture. While GAIS has spent portions of its recent history in the lower divisions of Swedish football, their return to Allsvenskan has been welcomed by a football community that values the club's long contribution to Swedish football and their distinctive identity as one of Gothenburg's oldest sporting institutions.

Gamla Ullevi's reconstruction created one of the most beautifully designed football venues in Scandinavia. The modern stadium retains the historic name while providing contemporary facilities, including excellent sight lines from all positions, comfortable seating, and good accessibility. Gothenburg's strong football culture — the city has produced Sweden's most successful club football teams in European competition — means that matches at Gamla Ullevi are well attended and passionately supported. GAIS's presence in Allsvenskan adds to the richness of Swedish football's landscape and gives Gothenburg an additional top-flight representative in Sweden's premier competition.
