Lotto Park
Lotto Park is the historic home of RSC Anderlecht, located at Avenue Theo Verbeeck 2 in the Brussels municipality of Anderlecht. The stadium holds 21,500 spectators and opened in 1983, replacing the earlier Emile Versee stadium. Formerly known as the Constant Vanden Stock Stadium, it was renamed Lotto Park in 2013 following a commercial naming agreement. The ground sits close to the heart of Anderlecht, a working-class commune in the Brussels Capital Region, and has served as the stage for the club's extraordinary run of domestic and European achievements.
RSC Anderlecht is the most decorated club in Belgian football history, having won 34 top-flight league titles, making them by far the most successful club in the country. Lotto Park has witnessed many of these championship celebrations as well as the club's most celebrated European campaigns. Anderlecht reached the UEFA Cup final in 1984, losing narrowly to Tottenham Hotspur, and have repeatedly competed in the UEFA Champions League. Legends such as Jan Ceulemans, Luc Nilis, Johan Walem, and later Vincent Kompany - who returned as manager - have been associated with the club and its home ground. The stadium has also served as a regular venue for Belgian Red Devils international matches.
Anderlecht's ambitions for a new stadium have been a recurring theme for many years. Various proposals have been put forward for a new 60,000-seat national stadium on the Lotto Park site or nearby, intended to serve both the club and the Belgian national team. These discussions have involved Brussels city authorities, UEFA, and the Belgian Football Association. In the meantime, Lotto Park continues to host Pro League and European matches, regularly filling its 21,500 capacity for top fixtures and creating the intense, expectant atmosphere of a club with the highest standards and a demanding, knowledgeable fanbase.
