Sarpsborg 08 Stadium

Sarpsborg Stadion
Sarpsborg 08 plays at Sarpsborg Stadion, located in Sarpsborg, a city in Viken county in southeastern Norway, close to the Swedish border and the city of Fredrikstad. The stadium has a capacity of approximately 8,100 spectators and was built for Sarpsborg 08's participation in the Eliteserien. The club, founded in 2008 as a merger of several smaller clubs in the Sarpsborg area, had the specific aim of creating a competitive professional football club for the region, and the stadium was a key part of establishing the infrastructure needed for top-flight football. Despite their young age, Sarpsborg 08 have established themselves as a consistent Eliteserien presence.
Sarpsborg 08's qualification for the UEFA Europa League in 2018–19 was a landmark achievement, with the club competing in the group stage against Bayer Leverkusen, FC Zürich, and AEK Athens. Those European nights brought continental-level football to the Sarpsborg Stadion for the first time and generated enormous excitement across southeastern Norway. The club's relatively small supporter base from a city of around 55,000 people demonstrated tremendous enthusiasm during these European campaigns, and the atmosphere at the compact stadium for those matches was remarkable given the club's young history.
Sarpsborg Stadion provides a modern, functional home for the club's Eliteserien campaigns. The stadium's design reflects the practical requirements of a Norwegian professional football club operating in the competitive environment of the Eliteserien. The club's management is respected within Norwegian football for its organisational competence and its success in building a competitive club from scratch in a relatively short period. As Sarpsborg 08 continue their Eliteserien journey, the stadium serves as the base from which they work to solidify and build upon the surprising achievements of their short but eventful history in Norwegian professional football.
