AVS – Club History

AVS (Associação Víla das Aves) is a Portuguese football club from the municipality of Santo Tirso in the Braga district of northern Portugal, representing the parish of Aves. The club plays in the Portuguese football league system and has competed in the Liga Portugal Betclic (second division) and achieved promotion to the Primeira Liga for the 2023-24 season, the first time in the club's history. Playing in blue and white, AVS represent the textile-manufacturing traditions of the Ave River valley in northern Portugal.

AVS's promotion to the Primeira Liga for the 2023-24 season was an historic achievement for the club and the Vila das Aves community. Competing in Portugal's top flight against Benfica, Porto, and Sporting CP was a proud moment reflecting the quality of their Liga Portugal Betclic campaign and the ambition of the club's management. The northern Portuguese football community welcomed their debut at the highest level of Portuguese football.
