Albacete Balompié – Club History

Albacete Balompié was founded in 1940 in Albacete, a city in the Castile-La Mancha region of central Spain. The club reached La Liga in the early 1990s under manager Benito Floro and competed in the top flight for three seasons, reaching a Copa del Rey final in 1996. Playing in black and white stripes, Albacete represent a city of around 170,000 in Spain's interior tableland. Their most celebrated player was goalkeeper Arnau, who represented the club and Catalonia. In more recent times, coach Manolo Díaz guided the club to the 2019–20 Segunda División season before their subsequent return to lower divisions.
