Eyüpspor Stadium

Eyüp Stadı
The Eyup Stadi is the modest home of Eyupspor, located on Hz. Halid Bulvari in the Eyup district of Istanbul, on the European shore of the upper Golden Horn. The stadium holds just 2,500 spectators, making it one of the smallest top-flight football venues in Europe, and serves a club from one of Istanbul's most historically sacred and culturally significant neighbourhoods. Eyup is named after Abu Ayyub al-Ansari, a companion of the Prophet Muhammad who died during the Arab siege of Constantinople in 674 CE and whose mosque and tomb are among the holiest sites in Istanbul.
Eyupspor's achievement in reaching the Super Lig represents one of Turkish football's most remarkable recent stories. The club from this historic but modest Istanbul neighbourhood navigated the Turkish football pyramid from the regional amateur leagues to the top flight in a remarkably short timeframe, driven by the ambitions of the Eyup municipality and passionate local support. Their Super Lig debut has brought national and international attention to a neighbourhood better known for religious pilgrimage and traditional Istanbul culture than for professional football.
The Eyup Stadi's tiny capacity means that the club needs to use larger borrowed venues for some Super Lig fixtures, or has plans to develop a new larger stadium to meet top-flight requirements. The surrounding Eyup district, with its Ottoman cemeteries, the historic Eyup Sultan Mosque, and the Pierre Loti cafe overlooking the Golden Horn, provides one of Istanbul's most atmospheric and historically rich settings. Eyupspor's presence in the Super Lig gives this ancient Istanbul neighbourhood its first taste of top-flight football and reflects the growing ambitions of Istanbul's outer districts to participate in Turkey's national sporting life at the highest level.
