Stadion Letzigrund
FC Zürich plays at Letzigrund, a multipurpose stadium located in the Altstetten district of Zürich, Switzerland's largest city and principal financial centre. The current Letzigrund was rebuilt and reopened in 2007 with a capacity of 26,104 spectators, as a combined football and athletics stadium that served as the main venue for the 2014 European Athletics Championships. The stadium's athletics configuration — with a running track surrounding the football pitch — creates a somewhat greater distance between supporters and players than a dedicated football stadium, but the Letzigrund generates reasonable atmosphere for major Super League and European matches.
FC Zürich has won the Swiss championship 13 times and the Swiss Cup nine times, making it one of Switzerland's most decorated clubs. The club has participated in European competition on numerous occasions, including memorable UEFA Champions League campaigns in the 2006–07 and 2009–10 seasons. Their Champions League group stage appearances — including competing against Real Madrid and Arsenal — brought significant European occasions to Letzigrund and raised the international profile of Swiss football in the financial hub of one of Europe's wealthiest countries. FC Zürich also won back-to-back Super League titles in 2022 and 2023, confirming the club's competitive quality in modern Swiss football.
Zürich's status as Switzerland's largest city, principal financial centre, and global hub for banking and commerce gives FC Zürich a significant commercial platform within Swiss football. The city's cultural richness — including the Kunsthaus art museum, the vibrant Langstrasse district, and the beautiful Lake Zürich waterfront — complements the football culture around Letzigrund. The stadium's proximity to Zürich's western residential neighbourhoods and its good public transport connections make it one of Switzerland's more accessible major football venues. FC Zürich's consistent Super League presence and European competition ambitions ensure Letzigrund remains one of the country's key football destinations.
