Selhurst Park
Selhurst Park is the traditional home of Crystal Palace Football Club, located on Holmesdale Road in the Selhurst district of south London, in the London Borough of Croydon. The stadium holds 25,456 spectators and has been Crystal Palace's home since 1924. The ground's history stretches back even further, as professional football was played at the site before Palace arrived. Selhurst Park is one of the oldest continuously used grounds in the Premier League and has an atmosphere disproportionate to its size thanks to its steep stands and passionate, close-in support.
The Holmesdale Road Stand is the heart of Selhurst Park's matchday experience and home to some of the most vocal and organised supporter groups in English football. The Palace Ultra fan section drives an intense atmosphere that has earned the stadium a reputation as one of the most intimidating venues in the league. The stand was redeveloped in 1994 and remains the most modern section of the ground. In contrast, the Whitehorse Lane End and the Main Stand retain much of their traditional English football character. The ground has hosted FA Cup matches, League Cup ties, and has been a regular Premier League venue through much of the past three decades.
Crystal Palace have been a fixture of the Premier League since their return in 2013, and Selhurst Park has become one of the league's recognisable settings. The club plays in its signature red and blue stripes against a backdrop of fierce south London support. Redevelopment plans for Selhurst Park, including a potential new Main Stand that would increase capacity beyond 34,000, have been drawn up and were approved by Croydon Council, with work expected to transform the ground while retaining its distinctive south London character.
