Estadi Mallorca Son Moix
The Estadio de Son Moix, officially known as the Visit Mallorca Estadi due to a naming rights agreement, is the home of RCD Mallorca, located in Palma, the capital of the Balearic island of Mallorca. Originally opened in 1999 to replace the club's historic but outdated Luis Sitjar stadium, Son Moix currently holds approximately 23,142 spectators. It is the only first-division stadium in Spain situated on an island, giving it a unique identity among La Liga grounds.
The stadium was designed with a distinctive oval shape and a partial roof covering three of its four stands. Since its opening, Son Moix has been the stage for Mallorca's most successful periods in top-flight Spanish football, including their remarkable run to the Copa del Rey final in 2003 — their most significant domestic cup achievement — and several strong La Liga campaigns in the early 2000s. The stadium also hosted notable European nights during the club's UEFA Cup runs. Mallorca's record attendance at Son Moix stands at around 23,000, achieved during high-profile La Liga matches.
The unique setting of Son Moix, on an island popular with millions of tourists annually, gives the ground a special character. Located near the Palma Arena sports complex, it draws supporters not only from the island's permanent population but also from the large expatriate community. The stadium has undergone various renovation works and its naming rights have changed several times over the years. For Mallorca fans, it represents the club's ambition to compete at the highest level despite the challenges of island geography and a smaller local fanbase.
