Trabzonspor – Club History

Trabzonspor is one of Turkey's most successful and passionate football clubs, founded on 2 August 1967 in the Black Sea city of Trabzon. Unlike Turkey's dominant Istanbul clubs – Galatasaray, Fenerbahçe, and Beşiktaş – Trabzonspor emerged from the Anatolian provinces and built a remarkable record of success that challenged the Istanbul monopoly on Turkish football. The club's founding came through the merger of several local teams, and from the very beginning Trabzonspor drew fierce pride from the people of the eastern Black Sea region, who saw the club as their representative against the established metropolitan powers.

Trabzonspor's rise was swift and dramatic. Within their first decade, the club won multiple national championships, establishing a dynasty that shook Turkish football. Şenol Güneş Stadium

Trabzonspor play their home matches at the Şenol Güneş Stadium (also known as the Medical Park Stadium), a modern facility that opened in 2016 and replaced the old Hüseyin Avni Aker Stadium. With a capacity of approximately 41,000 supporters, the stadium is situated overlooking the Black Sea and provides a dramatic backdrop for matchdays. The ground was named after legendary former player and coach Şenol Güneş, and its design incorporates the steep hillside of Trabzon's geography. Matchday atmosphere at the stadium is intense, with the passionate Karadeniz (Black Sea) supporters creating a formidable environment for visitors.
